Mary Pfaffko currently works for Defenders of Wildlife. Anyone contemplating the use of information provided by her or her employer should consider the source and ponder the validity of findings or recommendations presented by someone who has demonstrated such unethical and immoral professional and personal behavior.
Professionally, evidence on file with the state shows that Mary Pfaffko did not have much of a choice in leaving her position with Georgia DNR. Some colleagues noticed her Jekyll and Hyde personality, with her diffident persona during the day versus her cradle robbing tendencies and teenage-like rave antics at night, but the true extent of the shadiness was evident in the proof presented to state officials. The clear evidence exposed her facade and showed once again that, eventually, the truth always comes to light.
Overlapping lessons from this or similar cases case include but are not limited to:
1. Morality in general – Do not engage in iniquitous behaviors;
2. Professional ethics – Do not use a work phone or email address to discuss sexual escapades, do not plan or engage in disgusting behavior during working hours, do not defy employer policies by having relationships with and/or accepting gifts from prohibited parties;
3. Common sense – Do not have written/text conversations regarding the use of illegal drugs, do not transmit masturbation videos (complete with two sex toys used simultaneously) to someone who clearly cannot be trusted, do not be so easily manipulated by others, do not have discussions about how to thwart legitimate open records requests or discuss the details of other nefarious behaviors after being informed there is a good chance the conversations are being legally recorded;
4. Acknowledging one’s behavior, honesty, and unselfishness – Own up to personal behavior, the truth will come out anyway – and that knowledge might be gravely important to others;
5. Collecting wages and/or reimbursements from an employer for time spent, well, "not working" is theft, or some variation thereof, and most states have modest financial thresholds for felony status;
6. Evaluate the repercussions – There are countless examples (e.g., getting fired) in this category, which overlaps with “common sense” above, but recent lessons from this case validate the idea that there are times that some type of karmic intervention can indeed be a female dog. In short, it is probably wise to think through both intended and possible unintended consequences of one’s actions, especially if they might antagonize a well-informed nemesis. Engaging in perjury, false accusations, and/or defamation is probably not a great choice. Mess with me again. I dare you!
